Review: Point Of Retreat by Colleen Hoover

The Good:  This is the sequel to “Slammed” by Colleen Hover and while it doesn’t have a complicated plot, I really enjoy the smoothness of Colleen Hoover’s writing. In this story the two main characters are trying to make the best of the hand that they were dealt. While in the first book, Will and Lake fell in to each other like two perfect pieces of a puzzle, in the sequel they have to work very hard to remain together. This story is heart-breaking and it made me cry several times. A great romance novel.

The Bad: I like conflict in a novel and this one had quite a bit of conflict when a past significant other made an appearance and put Will and Lake’s relationship in jeopardy, however I would have liked to see a little more suffering from Lake’s point of view. She was a bit childish.

The Ugly:  I didn’t care much for the cover, but the publisher has made some improvements to it and the new version is great.

This book was pick up by Atria books and it’s now available in ebook at Amazon and Barnes & noble and in paperback at most retailers.
